Mona Bieling, a graduate student at the Graduate Institute of Geneva recently interned at Baladna. During her time here she performed research on the topic of how Palestinians are intentionally divided along cultural and religious lines by the Israeli state through the education system. Baladna, the Association for Arab Youth, has issued an informatory video this week in celebration of reaching a staggering involvement of over 10,000 direct individual beneficiaries from its projects with Palestinian youth inside the Green Line. Baladna and its staff were proud to announce this landmark achievement which comes in conclusion to its 2015/1016 academic cycle. This accomplishment, which comes on the 15th anniversary of Baladna's launch, is a promising start to a new year filled with innovative activities and projects.

As part of their joint Youth Against Honour Killings project, which is supported by the European Union, Baladna- Association for Arab Youth and Kayan – Feminist Association produced a needs assessment report in order to look deeper into the phenomenon of women's killings in the Palestinian community in Israel. Baladna is pleased to share its new report "Sectarian Recruitment: Israel's Policies for Conscripting the Youth of Arab Palestinian Citizens". This report provides a comprehensive historical overview of efforts by the Israeli State to recruit Arab Palestinian youth into the military, including the Druze community, Palestine's marginalized Bedouin communities and the Palestinian Christian citizens. We are pleased to be able to announce the release of Baladna's Annual Activities Report 2014-2015. Over the past year more than 6720 youth have participated in our range of projects, while our videos, online pages and social media have reached over 250,000 youth, ensuring Baladna remains the leading independent youth organisation among Palestinian youth in Israel, and well-positioned to face the challenges of tomorrow head on.

Kayan Feminist Organization and Baladna Association for Arab Youth have conducted field work into the attitudes of Palestinian youth in Israel towards violence against women and the killing of women. The goal was to access concepts of violence and honor as perceived by Palestinian youth. The research was conducted by Dr. Suhad Daher-Nashef, Program Coordinator of Women’s Studies at Mada al-Carmel – Arab Center for Applied Social Research, and lecturer at Al-Qasemi and Oranim educational colleges.
